Story
Idaho’s first designated meadery
Every good campaign starts somewhere….usually with a bold idea, a bit of risk, and a party willing to see it through.
Mythic Mead began its quest in 2015, founded by a veteran and his partner with a shared love of craft, community, and honey-based alchemy. For five years, the meadery was built and sustained through dedication and grit, laying the groundwork for something that would endure.
In 2020, during a time when the world felt especially uncertain, stewardship of Mythic Mead passed to a new party: Steve Sagehorn (Navy Vet), Nick Domeny (Army), and Eleanor Paige. Taking over a meadery during a global pandemic—while balancing deployments, full-time jobs, families, and life’s many plot twists—was no small undertaking. Money was tight. Progress was slow. But the work continued.
After five years of hard-won effort, Mythic Mead achieved a long-held goal: opening a tasting room. What began as a passion project had become a living, breathing mead hall—welcoming adventurers, locals, and curious travelers alike.
The party grew again in 2023, when Karter Doyal (Army Vet) joined the fold, officially stepping into part ownership in 2024. Then in 2025, Steve chose to step aside, passing the torch forward. Today, Mythic Mead is run by Karter, Ellie, and Nick, each bringing their own skills to the table.
Ellie runs the tasting room on weekends (1–7) alongside her regular jobs and crafts the whimsical, ever-changing SideQuest flavors.
Nick is one of our primary mead makers, guiding both traditional recipes and new creations from honey to horn.
Karter is a mead connoisseur and maker in his own right, contributing to both production and experimentation.
Through it all, Mythic Mead has continued to grow. We now distribute in multiple states and proudly hold the title of Idaho’s oldest designated meadery, established in 2015.
At our core, we remain devoted to tradition—offering flagship meads like Freya’s Kiss, Baldur’s Bochet, and our Well Plum mead—while also embracing creativity and fun through fanciful, nerdy, and geek-inspired offerings. Our goal is simple: to keep expanding our portfolio, bring high-quality craft mead to Idaho, and make Mythic Mead a place where good drinks, good stories, and good company always meet.
So pull up a chair, raise a Horn, and stay awhile. The quest continues—and there’s plenty of mead to go around.
